a vintage embossed copper wall plate featuring a classic tavern or pub scene. These were highly popular mid-century decorative items, often manufactured in England (by brands like Peerage or Elpec) or Belgium, and widely exported to South Africa during the mid-to-late 20th century.

Identification

• Subject Matter: A "Tavern Scene" or "Old English Pub Scene." It depicts figures in 17th or 18th-century attire gathering around a table, a common motif intended to evoke a sense of rustic, historical charm.

• Material: Embossed (repoussé) copper. The darkened areas are a natural patina, which many collectors prefer as it highlights the 3D relief of the figures.

• Origin: Most likely British or European, circa 1950s–1970s. Look at the back for a small stamp saying "Made in England" or a circular hanging ring.
