The Story: The artwork tells a humorous tale in Afrikaans about a ""rich man and his countess"" commissioning Da Vinci. Lisa is depicted as a bit of a ""moaner"" who isn't interested in the latest lip-pouting fashions and keeps Da Vinci working for years.

The ""Judgmental Eyes"": The poem ends by noting that no matter where you stand, Lisa follows you with ""judgmental eyes"" (oordelende oë)—a nod to the famous optical illusion of the original painting.
