0176 - Vintage Silver Plated Floral Teaspoon Set

LOT SOLD

Opening Bid: 150 ZAR

CLOSING BID

150 ZAR

Set of vintage silver-plated teaspoons (or demitasse spoons) featuring porcelain "cameo" inserts.

These were popular gift items from the mid-to-late 20th century (roughly the 1960s through the 1980s). While they are quite pretty, they were typically mass-produced rather than high-end artisan silver.

Identification

  • Design: The handles feature an oval porcelain medallion with a rose spray motif, surrounded by a maroon/burgundy border and gold-gilt accents.

  • Origin: Most sets of this specific style were manufactured in Japan or Korea.

  • Use: These are often used as "high tea" spoons for stirring tea or coffee, or as decorative collector spoons.

Estimate Value: R250 - R450
