Paul Roos Gymnasium See and be Seen Art Exhibition and Auction brought to you by Investec - 19 to 30 October 2021

 

The inaugural “See and Be Seen” Art Exhibition and Auction is a fundraising event which forms part of the school’s 155-year celebrations and is especially significant considering the turbulent times we find ourselves in. Funds raised will be in aid of the Sponsor a Paul Rooser initiative, which provides financial relief to disadvantaged families in the Paul Roos school community.

 

Exhibition and Events

The See and Be Seen Art Exhibition hosted at Paul Roos Gymnasium Indoor Cricket Centre, 311 Suidwal Street, Stellenbosch is open to the public from 19 to 30 October. Entry to the exhibition is free and open to the public on Monday - Friday: 10:00 - 14:30 and Saturdays: 10:00 - 13:00.

 

The program also includes an opening and morning tea on 19 October with guest speaker Deon Meyer, world renowned South African thriller novelist, and sundowners and live auction evening on 20 October with Frank Kilbourn, executive chairman of Strauss & Co. Participating Artists

The exhibition is a mix of professional artists (to add that much needed excellence and inspiration to our youth), emerging artists, those with an artistic flair and young talent.

 

In the spirit of community engagement, Paul Roos Gymnasium hosted an interactive art experience in partnership with the Rupert Museum. Participating art students from Paul Roos Gymnasium, Calling Academy, Hoër Meisieskool Bloemhof and Rhenish Girls’ High School created portraits of each other under the guidance of Lara Nieuwenhuis, artist-designer and educator. Art produced during the interactive workshops forms part of the exhibition and auction along with selected artworks from the Paul Roos Gymnasium Grade 8s’ See and Be Seen third term art assignment.

Payment and Collection

 

An invoice with payment details will be sent to the successful bidder within the week after the event. Please keep an eye out for this email.

 

Payment is due immediately upon receipt of the invoice, and artworks will not be released until payments have successfully cleared in the Paul Roos Gymnasium account. Please ensure timeous payment to allow for this before collecting work.

 

If we are not able to reach the winner of each bid after several attempts, or payment is not made within the allocated time, the second successful bidder after them will be considered the winner of that bid and will be contacted instead.

 

Collection of works after the auction will occur at Paul Roos Gymnasium from the 8 - 12 November 2021.

 

Any request to deliver work to areas outside of Stellenbosch can be done at the successful bidder's own expense. We are able to courier from Postnet to Postnet (0-5kg is R99). Please alert the Silent Auction team upon receipt of your invoice.
